This particular style of bench was made to be wheeled onto a lawn for people to watch tennis or croquet with their feet and dresses raised above the grass on the drop-down footrest

The bench is in super condition and dates from the early 19th Century. The triple segmented back above a plain-slatted seat and hinged footrest, on paw feet with wheels to one end.

An impressive pair of Handyside cast iron garden urns with fluting, on turned socle and square plinth base. Andrew Handyside bought the Britannia Iron Works in 1848, they were renowned for the quality of their castings and were commissioned to manufacture many public bridges and monuments, in 1871 they manufactured London's Albert Suspension Bridge. Receiving distinctions at the Great Exhibition in 1850, the quality of their casts were exceptional and became more exceptional with time. This model is illustrated in the Handyside foundry catalogue published in the mid 19th century as number 6 (see attached image from their catalogue)

A rare cast iron console by the English foundry of Coalbrookdale

A rectangular cast iron marbleised top with rounded projecting corners, and intricately cast pierced scrolling legs joined by a an ornate and delicate front stretcher. There is a previous repair to the front stretcher which is not noticeable. The diamond registration stamp to the reverse.

The table is in the original distressed paint finish, which we felt deserved to be preserved

This model is illustrated in the 1875 Coalbrookdale catalogue and was also available in a larger size. Circa: 1875

When the bench arrived it was in a rather sorry state. It has since been refurbished, primed and painted in a traditional garden green colour. The table did require a small amount of welding to maintain the structural integrity of the bench

Louis Vuitton, the French fashion house founded in 1854, famous worldwide for its luxury trunks and handbags. Louis Vuitton also created some furniture during the 1920-30's, some of this furniture was allegedly used to decorate the coaches of the Orient Express.

Beautiful large proportion arras 'Saint Sauveur' chair This chair is in good condition with Lions feet dating to circa 1880, from one of the factories in arras producing this type of garden furniture. Originally green in colour, with decades of being outside giving a fantastic patina and look.

Arras Furniture first emerged circa 1840 when one of three companies manufacturing metal products in the town of Arras, Grassin-Baledans, began to specialise in garden furniture and started producing artistic ironwork.

All authentic Arras pieces are entirely hand forged and riveted, using metal tubing and flat metal. The furniture was intended for the high-end market at a time when the privileged classes were discovering the benefits of outdoor living, and the pieces were made to the highest quality and durability, along with their striking and distinctive appearance, made Arras pieces incredibly fashionable and extremely collectable today.

Originally embellished with lion paws, after 1900 this changed to horse hooves.
