Pottery production in Lambeth (South London) dates back to Roman times. The Potteries, also known as Pot houses were concentrated on the south side of the River Thames between Vauxhall Bridge and Lambeth Bridge
James Stiff was an English potter born in Suffolk who worked at Eleanor Coades Manufactory in Lambeth, then at Doulton and Watts pottery also in Lambeth where he eventually owned his pottery works by 1843. His sons joined the firm in 1863 and the firm became known as James Stiff and Sons, in 1913 the firm was sold to Royal Doulton

A really lovely wrought iron Arras table. The earlier lions feet date the table to from the 1850’s. When the table arrived it had been sand blasted and then left to rust, so was in a rather sorry state
It has since been refurbished and painted in Little Green’s “Tea with Florence” exterior eggshell. This table would look superb either in the garden or equally at home in an interior setting
